Digitalisation of CAMU management tools by the company Akieni, subsidiary of YAO CORP group: first phase of enrolment is operational

Created by Law No. 12-2015 of 31 August 2015, the Universal Health Insurance Fund (CAMU) is the management body of the health insurance system in the Republic of Congo. The main purpose of the establishment of the CAMU is the access to health care at all, without exception or financial constraints.

On 6 January 2022, a service provision contract for the digitalization of the CAMU was signed between the Ministry of Civil Service, Labour and Social Security and YAO CORP Group. As the financial and technical partner of the project, YAO CORP group manages the technical implementation and financing of the CAMU start-up activities. The financial holding company offers digitalisation services to public and private organizations through its subsidiary Akieni.

This first phase of enrolment targeting 110,000 people (retirees, taxi and bus drivers, company employees and civil servants of the State) began in Brazzaville and intends to gradually extend throughout the national territory, particularly in Pointe-Noire and Oyo. This phase will establish biometric files containing the anagraphic data of the enrollees. Once the enrolment operation is completed, the insured persons will be able to access health care, within three months, while they obtain their health card and pay their social security contributions.

Akieni, a subsidiary of the YAO Corp group, specializing in the digital transformation of government services and the development of national digital infrastructures, is supporting the Congolese government in the deployment of health system solutions offering biometrics.

The company responded to the main concerns of the CAMU by implementing software capable of covering all social strata and ensuring the regulation and management of the health pathway.

‘’We are proud of the work accomplished, from administrative and financial management rules to business processes, our teams were professional and reliable thanks to perfect mastery of the solution delivered.’’ declared Akieni Managing Director, Frédéric Nze. “At Akieni, we are working to improve the culture of digital services and I must say that this project is exactly what defines us, all the stages have been exciting from pre-enrolment to biometric enrolment as well as the care journey with the possibility of communicating directly with selected hospitals and pharmacies without forgetting the training of CAMU enrollers” he added.

The 50 registration stations will guarantee universal and supportive medical coverage to the entire Congolese population, particularly the most vulnerable.
